Editing Animation

Having completed all our indivdual models we then merged them to create certain rooms in the house. Anna completed renders for the celebration hall, school and almhouse. Helen completed renders for the outside views, stairs, library and token to the poor. Stewart created the timeline and started the editing in premier pro in which he created a title page and set up animation effects (fade's in and out etc). Helen and Anna completed the final render and found sound effects to add to the animation.
Over all we feel we have worked very well together as a team, overcoming difficulties, considering one team member is only part time, and organising ourselves appropriatley to complete the assignment and on time. We have enjoyed working together and feel we have used eachothers strengths.

Group Update 21/11/11

At the last group meeting we merged our work and ensured all the rooms being created fit inside the main building. New models were allocated out to each member and decided that by the beginning of next week all modelling will be finished and some animation completed. It was decided that no more time will be spent on modelling and therefore we would not include the museum in the animation.
Anna is completing the celebration hall with a laid out banqueting table, she has also modelled a room for the almshouse. Stewart will be modelling a loaf of bread as a token to give to the poor. Helen will be finishing the guildhall including the stairs, the environment and sourcing characters to use within the animation.

Almshouses - Anna

Group update

Anna, Helen and Stewart are well on their way to finishing the school room, library and main building of Guildhall. They have made a revised list of addtional things they will need to model and did some research into what the celebration hall would have looked like in 1420.

Presentation and SWOT analysis

We feel the presentation went well. We demonstrated how well our group organised the overall direction of the project by identifying each aspect we will be modelling and animating. We have a clear plan for our work and our team is strong working together.

SWOT Analysis:

Strengths

Being in a group makes us feel confident knowing that the workload will be divided between us. We are a motivated team who work well together.

Weaknesses:

Modelling, animation, learning of new techniques takes time and as we are still learning it is necessary to watch tutorials which also take time.

The 3dmax software takes time to understand and use which does have a limiting effect on creativity.

Opportunities:

This year we have an opportunity to develop our 3Ds max skills and finish the degree as confident professionals, using the program easily for any modelling or animation need or for animation production for a real world client.

Threats:

Other modules could be counted as threats, because we have to do other assignments at the same time and it takes time as well.

Division of Work

To divide the work evenly between the group we first made a list of all aspects of the animation and then having discussed preferences each member was delegated one aspect to model to begin with. Consideration was taken that some aspects would be harder than others but had agreed that all members were reasonably at the same level with modelling in 3DSmax. It was decided that further work will be arranged in two weeks time.

Our list so far:

Environment including Church
Main building of Guildhall - Helen
Celebration Hall
School - Anna
Tokens to poor
Museum
Library - Stewart
Almshouses

Storyboard

Having discussed all our ideas we decided to choose a selection that we thought best represented how the Guildhall has been used and effected the community throughout its history. The beginning of the animation will be a pan of the outside of the Guildhall and its surrounding area. There will then be a walk around tour into different parts of the building with mini animations inside each room. A timeline will be added and on the screen to show what era is being animated.

Finchingfield Visit and research continued

We gathered a lot of valuable information on our trip to the Guildhall. We took many photographs and have set up a flickr group to share all the photos we took. See here for the link.
If we would like any more information from our tour guide his contact email is Des Fahy : fahydes@yahoo.co.uk
Helen went to Braintree library and both her and Stewart went to Chelmsford Records office. Anna searched for more information on the internet and found these websites:
